monday was totally normal. i think. that was a long time ago.
tuesday g came home with a wiggly top tooth.
wednesday he savagely ripped said wiggly top tooth from his gums. the gman doesn't mess around when there's money to be had. unfortunately, the tooth fairy wasn't quite prepared. yea, g's tooth fairy is now 0 for 3 in the readiness department. this time she ended up leaving a "walmart" gift card under his pillow. she's never ready, but she's quick on the fly. clever girl. wink.
thursday was parent teacher conference day. the gman went to kids' club for the first time. he liked it ok. came home with a bit of a cough though. oh. and he got a glowing report from his kinder teacher. happy mommy.
friday i took mr. blinkie to the eye doctor at walmart. kill two birds with one stone, right? he has a mild to moderate astigmantism, thus the excessive blinking when he gets tired. we picked out blue rimmed lenses. he is SO EXCITED. he asks me every day when his glasses are going to be ready. i think he realizes they make him look more like a scientist. he forgot his walmart gift card from the tooth fairy at home, but mommy gave him a loaner so he got a new train.
saturday we went to the walk in clinic at walgreens. gman had a raging fever allllllllll night the night before. he tested positive for flu type A. presumed H1N1. guess it's fitting that the pork chop has the swine flu, no? tamiflu works wonders people. wonders. you'd never know he's had such a dreaded disease. i should mention here that before the visit we had to run home for his health insurance card. i can't imagine why that thing wasn't in my purse. it's a mystery.
yesterday we were bored out of our minds. today i'm sure will be more of the same since we're not cleared for school till tomorrow.
in our neverending quest to find a sport that g tolerates, we have recently purchased him a spiderman bike. he feels no connection to spiderman. that was just the only boy bike in his size at the walmart that day. so far he seems to like it. we've been trying to take him to the greenway or the park most evenings. he likes to go in the early evening so we can finish before it starts getting dark. he says "my mind scares me when the sun goes off the deep end."
a pair of g's cousins showed ups semi-unexpectedly one night last month. they had to leave the next morning, so we didn't get to play with them for very long and this is the only photo i could snag. g has this innate sense of family that is lovely to witness. he instantly bonds with relatives. there's none of the usual testing the waters period. just instant friendship. i love this about him. on a totally unrelated note that fits in well with this photo, g was grabbing crayons out of his craft drawer and says, "i accidentally got two pinks. what a loser. two pinks." he is very concerned with boyness these days.
g is also into starwars. he's gotten several lego sets and we had to borrow the trilogies from billy and melissa. we were watching return of the jedi the other day and he pats me on the chest and says, "you're joggly there just like jabba the hut." niiiiice. hopefully by the time he starts dating he'll have learned that girls would much rather be compared to princess lea. and i don't even want to think about any future chest pattings going on.
went to the zoo with michelle and crew labor day weekend. go us using our new zoo membership. at first g didn't want to carpool. he said, "i don't want to be stuck looking at all the furry animals." yea. we spent most of our visit in the reptile/fish house and under the waterfall. fun times.
look! i cook! shocking i know. g actually liked this meal enough to eat it as leftovers the next day. g's not big on leftovers. he's such a manchild. a bit of ice to cool it quickly. only g calls ice "icebergs" thus this is not chicken noodle soup it's "iceberg soup."
g's little school bff has been coming over once a week. they were delighted to have a mini mud puddle to play in last week. g was having an exceptional amount of flatulence that afternoon. he says he doesn't do that stuff at school. i sure hope not. once the bff left (no pda's please), i told g, "come here and let me squish you." he told me "no." i was shocked. he never says no to mommy hugs. when i asked him why he was holding out on me he said, "you might pop the poop out." sorry. i have a boy. potty humor happens.
i think it was last saturday. we were headed to famous dave's for lunch. just me and the gman. see he's taken to collecting the free coloring pages from restaurants. those things sure don't come cheap. anyway. per usual i was trying to fit one more chore into the mix. taking out the trash. stinky trash. still couldn't find g's crocs. think they'd been missing since the saturday before. thought they might be under the passenger seat in the car, but i didn't want to come back for his tennies if they weren't and i was too lazy to tie his shoes if i could avoid it, so i just put those on top of my piles and we headed off. got to famous daves and there were no crocs under the seat. and much worse there were no tennies in the car. i'd thrown them out with the trash. doh. desperately drove back home and went dumpster diving. they'd been crushed, but luckily they were still visible. and luckily the laces were still tied. i managed to fish them out by the bow loops with the long metal trash pusher downer thing. he wore them to famous daves. he said they were stinky. i said it was only his imagination. i didn't smell a thing. we did wash our hands before dining for those of you who are concerned about such things. the tennies are still dirty. he's been wearing the back-up pair all week. we did finally find his crocs. they were only 3 inches away from where they normally reside. this is just an anecdote for my life right now. way too much to do. way too much to remember to do. not enough time to do all of it. not enough braincells to remember it all. my short-term memory has totally malfunctioned from the stress. hoping things slow down in october and i can regenerate a few of those.
here's another jbs mercantile layout i managed to get done this week. please excuse the letter "f" where an "e" should be. i had plenty of e's as you can see by the rest of the title. just that malfunctioning brain thing again. sigh.
p.s. hope to edit some pics tomorrow so i can show you that we've been doing a few fun things in the midst of all the work work work.
p.s.s. please excuse any spelling issues. i'm sure those braincells aren't working at present either.
