i am curious. how do you decide when you're done with a kit? do you create a layout or two and then store it away for future inspiration? or do you work work work to use it up before the next month arrives? somewhere in between? (or heaven forbid you have the guilts for not opening it at all)! i think i have mentioned my ocd tendencies here before, so i fall in more towards the "finish it up and move it out" end of the spectrum. i'm pleased to report that my ocd tendencies are super happy so far this weekend, because i've polished off june and july! can i hear a woot! woot?! with june i completed five layouts (four in my gallery and i'll share the fifth here tomorrow), a monthly mini-album page (with the monthly bingo cards in each kit), and a garden journal. with july i completed seven layouts (the two here plus the five others in my gallery), and the monthly mini-album page. it's been easier for me to get more done with each kit now that jenni's added the second add-on.
now to answer my own question of when i think i'm done with a kit. hmmm. i think for me it's when i feel i've used all the cool bits in the kit. like on this layout i really didn't think my life would be complete if i didn't use that striped paper for journaling. i just really NEEDED to do that!
this was layout number seven for july. there wasn't anything specific that i NEEDED to use on this one, but i felt like i wasn't quite done. there were just too many great bits left unused. seriously. those doillies and canvas banners and vintage aqua buttons and the absolutely perfect mix of patterned paper . . . i loved july (no surprise it's sold out, but you can get on a waiting list HERE in case one comes available). seriously, i almost decided to go for number eight, but then i realized the pieces that i still wanted to use (vintage subway tickets, first place label, and brown shoelaces) were all from the park bench add-on, so i pulled the rest of that together and think i might work it into one of my august kit layouts. mix it up a bit, you know?
i'm pretty ocd methodical about my scraps too, although there really aren't many at all. i saved a couple pieces of the kite strings add-on for my friend tammy. the unused rub-ons are stored away for g's school's fall fundraiser (a silent auction basket), my absolute favorite bits of patterned paper and the leftover buttons were put in a basket of old kit stuff, then the rest was put in a bag for my sister (she teaches high school art and puts my scraps to good use). i did throw away a handfull of scraps, but only the tiniest pieces that fit in my hand. my kits are always well used. how about you? any kit working quirks to share?

i LOVE YOUR LAYOUTS!!! I always do! the first one is so great with all these scraps. it really depends for me, some kits really do it for me and I don't have enough ,some are just not me at all and I use bits and pieces of them, little by litlle with other products. have a great week!

I love your layouts too...You have some of the neatest ideas. I love how you go at it with no fear...And using everything up. You have inspired me so many times to go outside the box. I think if I have a vintage piece with say a "3" on it, my page has to be something about a "3"...I am trying to just use things up too. I get so behind tho. This post has helped me feel inspired and stop trying to save things for that perfect special page and stressing over it and just have fun playing with the paper.....
