I've recovered from the big cub scout campout and have finally gotten the chance to go through last week's pretty paper party favors. i've read the first five and each one is such a treat. i adore shimelle; i really do. so each shimelle email is like a warm fuzzy in my inbox. she's the perfect hostess. the other sweet part is that all my favorite scrappers are there too, plus some new friends! i'm loving it and anxious to join in the festivities. you can join in too! here's the invitation. let me assure you that it's perfectly okay to be fashionably late. shimelle says i can bring a guest to the party with me. if you'd like to come, please leave a comment here and i'll choose one of you tomorrow afternoon when i get home from school and put on my party clothes (around 5pm cst). here's a little peek at the party decoration i contributed to the fun. the theme is pretty paper if you hadn't guessed that already. :)
There are online classes for everything these days, and Shimelle has been teaching online scrapbooking classes for years - but she's decided it's time to kick it up a bit and go from online class to a four-week online party, and you're invited. Pretty Paper Party is the party to attend if you have a collection of paper stacked up for a rainy day, if you have more scraps of paper than you know what to do with (but you know you don't want to throw them away!) and if you've ever put a piece of paper back in your stash because it was just too special for the photos at hand. Through printable prompts and tutorial videos, Shimelle and dozens of special party guests will share beautiful and innovative techniques you can achieve with the paper you have already collected.
i started out with every intention of being productive at sherri's. then, good friend that she is, she synced my new ipad for me. she knows how much i dislike messing with technology. then, oh dear. i ended up gmailing and blog surfing on the old laptop whilst reading a trn i'd downloaded to my new kindle app on my new smartphone and starting six rounds of words with friends aka scrabble on the new ipad. i might never be productive again. but it sure is fun!
4 days left of fall break. yesterday i recuperated from our florida vacation and got semi caught up on computer work. today i'm getting semi caught up on housework and thinking about creating. the windows are open and there's an amazing fall breeze blowing through. we scored another playdate. they've been legoing for two hours straight now. life is good. although i do need to go to the grocery. ha.
i'm also struggling to find a focus today. i organized all my smallest vintage bits in my new jbs (it's not a cigar) box. i'm pretty much in love with it. a treat indeed. now i'm trying to get going on my october mini album, but i really need to get some pics printed for that. editing is so not fun though. i need to finish up my september mini too. and i'm having a strange urge to do a two pager with the october kit before november arrives next week. i blame that last one on briana. she keeps me motivated she does.
what are you up to this fine fall day? man i really love this box. i think i need another to make a february display . . .
i just finished up my designer interview with debbie hodge for the october seminar at masterful scrapbook design. it was so fun. debbie is awesome. if you've never tried one of debbie's seminars, you totally should just once. maybe i shouldn't tell you this though . . . her seminars are like lays potato chips . . . "no one can stop at just one!" i had to throw in that pop culture reference as the topic of this month's seminar is "these times." it was SO inspiring for me. really. it's opened up a whole new world with my journaling and page topics. this page was one that i created for the class and i love it. you'll just have to check out the seminar to see what i mean. :)
here's what you get:
a 40 page seminar packed with layouts and text from debbie and this month's designers. it's a downloadable pdf and debbie also provides an audio version later in the month.
two designer galleries with 30+ projects from 8 different designers.
8 articles on the topic written by this month's designers.
5 audio interviews from this month's guest designers with a typed transcription provided later.
a directory of bonus resources.
and on a side note, thanks to the crafter's workshop for sending me the stencil that helped create a great techno vibe at the top of the layout.
