i started my own personal ribbon rebellion . . .

a couple weeks ago i vowed the next 10 layouts in my gallery would have ribbon on them.  i'm over halfway there now!  meet ribbon layout #5 and #6.  :)

#5 is a weathered door sample for my lss.  and it was my response to lemonade stand's inspiration challenge.  this layout of tia's was my inspiration.  (sorry about the washed out photo.  i plan on getting a better one soon).

#6 is a foofala sample for my lss.  (scrap it! in hermitage, tn.  be sure to stop by if you're coming to cku-tn.  it's a great place).  note:  i consider twill tape (ricrac and trim) as part of my "ribbon" collection.

g said his very first sentence today.  "coke gone."  yes.  i know i'm a bad mother.  :)  we went to get more.

yard sales . . .

are such fun.  i forgot how much fun since i haven't been to any in years.  a good scrapping buddy had a community yard sale going on in her subdivision last saturday, so g and i went and strolled around with her and her boys.  i didn't find any of the buttons i was looking for, but g landed some great loot.  i was most excited about the little people helicopter and pilot that was only 50 cents.  i just kept thinking, "does she KNOW how much she can get for this on ebay?"  people are just sick for little people, myself included.

this has become my favorite purchase.  don't his chubby little legs look so fashionable in his "old" new balance (for only a dollar) tennies?  i just love foot pics.  gonna have to scrap this one soon.

g's favorite purchase, by far, is the 5o cent blues clues chair.  he LOVES to sit in it to watch his videos.  the chair actually saved me this week when i had to take g to the first part of a class i was teaching at my lss.  he sat in it like a little angel watching veggie tales.  oh.  and pepito has become quite fond of the chair too.  :)

my ribbon addiction . . .

here it is in all it's glory.  my ribbon collection.  i'm currently cleaning up the mess from the ribbon festivals i created last weekend (see below).  and putting away a few more purchases from a little retail therapy at michael's.  ribbon.  just can't get enough . . .

ode to ribbon . . .

. . . i've been doing quite a few cleaner layouts lately.  in fact, i was shocked the last time i breezed through my gallery and realized that the last ten or more layouts have had no ribbon on them.  i couldn't believe it!  i adore ribbon!  i was one of those who rushed to walmart when a pub pea posted that there was new wonderful ribbon to be had there.  i have way more ribbon than any scrapper should have, but the stuff really makes me happy.  :)

i think making these cleaner layouts has been really good for me.  i've cut away everything and gotten to the bare bones of my designs.  i think i've improved the underlying structure of my layouts quite a bit recently.  so now it's time to return to my first love, junk.  and lots of it.

i finished these two layouts this week and i'm quite delighted with them.  :D

an interesting bit of data . . .

. . . i finally got to toot last week.  memory makers called me for their idea gallery #6.  they want one of my hof entries, a christmas lo that i'm quite fond of.  wow i was happy.  :)

and here's that interesting bit of data:  125 submissions for 1 toot.  whew.  this submitting is hard work.  and i sure do hope my odds get better . . .  :D

i cleaned up my mess . . .

i can't remember how many los it had been since i put everything away.  whew!  it took all morning saturday and most of the afternoon.  yep.  11:00 to 4:00 cleaning a scrap mess.  i even got a bulletin board hung.  so there you go.  a clean table.  a new bulletin board.  just waiting for inspiration.  hopefully it will strike today . . .

. . . participating in scrapnancy's make it just for fun challenge . . . rereading ali's book and trying to "think before i speak" . . . mulling over scrapally's comment about all great lo's have a place to go . . . exchanging opinions on layouts with gluestickgirl . . . the winds of changing are blowing . . .

i am pleased.

it was a happy week . . .

so many good things to report . . .

i finished this layout.  not once, but twice.   gluestickgirl convinced me that redoing a layout wasn't that bad, and that it was vital if i wanted to improve my work.  i feel i've reached another level.  willing to tear my work apart to improve it.  expect greatness from me now!  and lisa and i have  reached another level in our relationship.  the confidence to critique and accept critiqueing, well, this is true friendship in the scrapping world.

and i finished this one too.  wow!  two in one week (not weekend).  gabriel just loves cows!  and i love that i took the time to stop on the side of the road so he could see them in real life.  and i've already got the moment scrapbooked.  and i just had to use basic grey for it.  i wanted to get another one done to send to their online gallery.  you see, they gave me a bit of excitement tuesday.  my layout boy was picked up from their gallery for their may newsletter.  yay!  i was needing this scrapping pick-me-up.  and i get a free pack of black tie too!

and my may paperdillies came.  i was actually home when it was delivered this time.  it's awesome!  such bright colors and wonderful embellishments this month.  i'm having so much fun playing with it. 

and i finished three crosswords this week!  man do i feel intelligent!

and gabriel didn't have to go to the doctor.  he managed to get over the cold all by himself.  no wheezing.  no ear infection.  yay.

and now it's the weekend.  i've already gotten my house in order.  i can enjoy the rest of national scrapbooking day and mother's day tomorrow.  life is great!  enjoy!

happiness is . . . two kitties.

  i have two domestic shorthairs.  chichi and pepito are their names.  chichi means baby in honduras.  i thought that was sweet, since she was the runt of the litter.  pepito was the biggest.  we just named him pepito because it fit.  no meaning behind that one other than a great name that really matched an energetic personality.  they're great cats.  the best.  okay, i'm biased, but they really are the sweetest and softest two kitties around. 

they speak spanish too.  no kidding.  when one is bad i say, "pinche gato!"  this expression has a bad word involved, but it sounds more like an endearment in spanish.  :)  when i want them to come in at night i have to yell, poopsie!  poopsie!  venite repoopsie!  i'm sure the neighbors really wonder.  venite means 'come here' and repoopsie, well, that doesn't mean anything in any language.  it's just pepito's nickname.  don't ask me where it came from.  i just don't know.  it's since been shortened to poopsie.  and now poops.

i found out chichi doesn't mean what i thought it did either.  in honduras it really does mean baby, but i teach esl, english as a second language, and have several hispanic students.  so, it turns out that in mexico, and most of central america chichi means boobie.  and in spain it means peepee.

so there you go then.  meet my kitties:  poops and pee.
