all they hype over the new harry potter release has really gotten me thinking about books again. i haven't read a single novel since g was born. that was 21 months ago yesterday. i used to be one of those total nerds who would rather read than chat. books taught me about life. lol. guess that's why i'm the odd bird i am today. but really. a truly great book can give you a glimpse into the heart and soul of humanity. i'm a firm believer that all young people should read to kill a mockingbird. i try to reread it every couple years. it's about that time again. i have to start reading again. not just for myself, but for g. i want him to see how important it is.
some other favorites . . . a prayer for owen meany, all quiet on the western front, one flew over the cuckoo's nest, 100 years of solitude, the grapes of wrath, the sound and the fury, return of the king, the geisha, the bonedigger's daughter, cannery row, i know why the caged bird sings, when my name was keoko, the giver, all things bright and beautiful, the last lion alone . . .
i could keep going on and on. but what are some of your favorites? :D
