tiny treasures . . .

love all my little bits of this and that . . . they're settling nicely into my style . . . little clusters here and there . . . the ever present ribbon and patterned paper . . . interesting titlework . . . i think i almost have some white space for rosagirl's challenge . . . and well, sorry hanni, my doodling is a little too structured in this one . . . what i love about this layout is that i'm learning to create tension with my color and pattern choices . . . yep . . . i'm very pleased with this one.

something else i'm pleased with is the reorganization of the tiny treasures i mentioned above.  guess we scrappers are always reorganizing.  it's part of the fun.  i love that the process reminds me of what i have, makes me think about mixing them in different ways, a little purging shows me how my style has changed.  i had gotten to where i scrapped mostly at home, but now that i'm getting to go to crops more often (YAY!) i wanted to be a bit more mobile again.  i'm happy with the results so far.

guess i'll close with a couple other tiny treasures i got to spend time with today.  g and his best buddy blake who brought him a belated birthday present.  so cute.  guess i should shut down the computer and get some sleep . . . gotta spend all day with these two tomorrow . . . need to be well rested for that.  :D

no seriously, got my camera fixed.  i know, you didn't know it was broken.  it was so weird . . . the world would look blurry through my viewfinder, but the camera would beep telling me all was in focus and then take a somewhat decent pic.  well, me and g took it to the camera doctor today and it got a 3 second fix.  turns out there's a tiny knob by the viewfinder called a diopeter.  it's there so people who where glasses can adjust it so they can take pics without their glasses on.  mine was just a bit off.  so now you know . . .

what motivated me to get it fixed TODAY?  got my 50mm 1.8f lens in the mail today!  woohoo!  now i MUST get out and take some fall pics this weekend.  yep yep yep.  fall colors have finally hit tennessee.  gorgeous!  hope to show you all some soon!  :D

back in the saddle again . . .

we're back!  we had a GREAT time in florida.  g ran to his papa and grandma as soon as we got there this time.  sure made them happy.  and he LOVED playing with all his cousins.  so glad we have fall break and get to celebrate his birthday with family each year.  :D

so now we're back in school.  hard adjustment after being so carefree for two weeks.  i've gotten LAZY.  monday i was worthless.  today was a little better.  i should be back in the swing of things by tomorrow.  and good thing too.  tomorrow's g's real birthDAY.  YAY!  already have way cute halloween cupcakes for his class at school and we're taking him to the aquarium restaurant for dinner.  he'll get to see lots of fish, pet stingrays, and ride the carousel as many times as he wants.  he'll go into the double digits i'm sure.  g LOVES carousels.  :D

we just got back from the park.  we went to play with blake while his older brother had baseball practice.  the little guys had a great time.  i TRIED to take pictures.  huge sigh.  g's in a  major anti-camera phase.  what's a shutterbug mom to do?  he refuses to look at the camera, much less smile if he can help it.  this pic amuses me.  i call it, "ride'em cowboy".  i managed to get one with catchlights, but no smile.  but a great smile in this action shot.  guess i'll have to settle for that one for now.

ah well . . . gotta get a few more loose ends taken care of and hopefully get my little nightowl to bed a bit earlier tonight.  hope your day was fabulous.  :D

let's talk color . . .

is there a color you don't especially like?  for me it's yellow.  don't know why.  it's such a happy color.  and i love daisies.  but yellow's not a color i tend to reach for in life.  i think i have one yellow sweater in my closet.  and g, well he does have a t-shirt w a yellow collar.  my sister brought me a yellow shower curtain a couple months back.  i just couldn't make myself use it.  just too much yellow hanging there . . .

but i use a color wheel from time to time.  and well, the other day the color wheel told me to use yellow.  and it happened to be the background color, so lots of yellow.  luckily i had a nice soft dusty foofala yellow.  lovely really.  gotta love foofala.  all was well.  i liked it.  but g painted on it.  ack!  then i made a stamping booboo.  double ack!  the background was ruined.  i searched for more yellow.  all i came up w was a piece of basic grey that was way too harsh.  no more yellow anywhere.  and nothing else would do.  had to wait till g got up from his nap to go get more.  and i didn't want to run into any more problems so i bought 3 sheets of the yellow foofala.  and a couple wild asparagus yellows for good measure.

and here's my yellow layout.  love the way it turned out.  and thank you hanni for the photoswap.  i sure enjoyed doing a girlie layout for a change.  :D

foam stamp storage . . .

not that glamorous, but highly functional for me at least.  i like to mix it up a bit.  i keep my pp by color mostly just so i won't be so tempted to use all the same line on a lo.  now i have my foam stamps mixed up too.  i bagged them by letter.  numbers and shapes are in another tote.  lol.  i've already had to upgrade to this sterelite drawer.  they fit in a smaller tote till i went back and bought the rest of the lil davis monograms.  let's see . . . oh and you can't really tell, but i wrote the letters on the blue zippers with a sharpie.  their alphabetized for easier locating.  i'm liking the system so far.  the friendship lo a couple posts down was my first with a mixed up title.  and then my october 1 post goes to show that i can still match up sets if i need to.  and it's oh so easy to grab and take them all to a crop. 

let's see . . . a few side notes . . . my heidi swapp alphabets are still in their original box.  her packaging was just too good to mess with.  except the numbers did get mixed in with the rest mainly because they were too tight and a friend had said her number 9 actually got damaged from being in such tight quarters.

and i guess most of you have noticed by now how much i'm loving the oversized title.  that you heidi swapp!  and now thanks to lil davis i have even more choices there.  and for those of you like me who were depressed that the lil davis monograms didn't come with all the letters . . . cheer up!  i've discovered that the heidi swapp new orleans lowercase matches up quite well.  the "y" on my happy lo is from heidi's set.  and hee.  the "p" is really the "d" upside down.

ok.  i'm rambling.  better get some stamping done while g is sleeping.  i'm off . . . :D

october 1st . . .

welcome fall!  we're having a nice cool morning here.  it's the first day of our (two week) fall break.  my house is clean(ish).  nothing to do but play all day.  :D  and i got both my samples done for my october (25th) class.  hope you're all having a great day!  :D :D :D
