snow day!!!

yesterday was pretty much one of the best days ever.  so so many good things to report.  all from one day.  i would have told you about them yesterday, but the internet was down.  i had serious withdrawals.  the cable guy came this evening and it took him an hour and a half to give me the hook up.  and turns out my laptop has personal issues.  luckily i had a spare, but my pics are all on mine.  had to burn them to cd so i'd have something to post here.  you know i can't post without pictures.  so anyway.  gotta take the gman to bed.  it's 26 mins past our bedtime.  so i'll have to tell you all about our fabulous day in the next post.  just wanted to give a shout out to the snowbird.  thank you thank you thank you snowbird!  loved that day off.  it was such a good one.  more about that soon!  night all!  :D

p.s.  does the card look familiar?  i used some scraps from the last layout.  i always tell myself i should do that, but never do.  so i did for once.  and it was kinda fun.  :D

challenges . . .

i love scrappy challenges . . . i've got so many pictures and supplies that sometimes i just want someone else to tell me where to start . . . the ki blog is good for that . . . 2 challenges every week . . . this week's challenge was about good old patterned paper . . . a reminder that all the ki lines match, so grab you're favorites and scrap . . . so i did!  my all time favorite line is color theory (the blue and pink here) . . . LOVE it . . . my all time favorite piece (until the new ki bloom comes out) is leapfrog (the green circles) from pop culture . . . LOVE it . . . actually, this is the fourth time i've used it . . . can't get enough of it . . . i also mixed in a little of the spring blooms (stripes) kit from joann's . . . so there ya go . . . patterned paper from 3 different releases all living harmoniously on the page . . . go KI!  :D

thought i'd mention those green circles in a little more depth too . . . i know i said this is the fourth time i've used them . . . well, it's the third time i've used them in practically the same way . . . but as my friend laura says, "when something works ... don't be afraid to use it over and over" . . . here i've used them in two ways . . . first, my layouts tend to be very linear, so i like lots of bits here and there to soften the edges . . . you can see the circles in several places adding curves to the edges of patterned paper blocks and photos . . . i've also used them to guide the eye . . . from where you naturally start the page top left down through the tiny subjects in the first photo, then on to the focal photo then jumping back up to catch the title . . . fun times . . . :D

and one more shout out for the challenges . . . i got my last two ki challenges picked up by scrapbook trends for their july issue . . . super yay!  :D

cleaning machine . . .

while chichi slept, i . . .

• washed the dishes, unloaded the dishwasher, swept, mopped, vacuumed, cleaned the vacuum, decluttered the clutter counter, cleaned both bathrooms, sorta dusted, picked up g's room, made his bed, reorganized the linen closet, cleaned out the bathroom catchall basket, emptied the catbox, washed 5 loads of laundry, folded and put it all away, and did a take no prisoners purge of my clothes . . . whew!  and go me!  yay!  :D

now i think i'll head over to the scrappy area and whip that into shape so maybe i can do a little more scrapping tonight . . . :D

here's last night's layout . . . i dove into my jenni bowlin january kit . . . this page is a special one for me . . . i remember my oldest neices and nephews being little stairsteps growing up and how fun that was . . . i'm just so tickled that the gman has cousins to be a stairstep with . . . he has such amazing little boy fun with them . . . can't wait till our next florida trip!  :D

 

happy shoppies . . .

i've finally come to the realization that the snowbird is just feeling too lazy this winter.  ok.  so on to spring i say!  did anyone hear what the groundhog had to say when he came out for a peek a few weeks ago?

i've started the spring shoppies . . . happy shoppies . . . i was needing a pair of black shoes so i got three . . . gotta love target that way . . . my signature hobo bag in kelly green polkies . . . a fun hot pink tee and slippers . . . i made the mistake of calling them socks but the gman says they're slippers and apparently he's an authority on fashion . . . :D

ooh!  and i finally updated my blog lists . . . got a few people back in the game and added a few new peeps . . . check them out over there . . . >

i can't think of a title . . .

oy.  total brainfreeze there.  and i'd hate to deny my readers a blog post just because i can't think up a decent moniker.  and speaking of freezes . . . hoping snowbird flies in the morning.  come on little birdie!  (and i just have 3 little words for the grumblers . . . yay for teachers!).  ok.  on to the pictures . . . i have a couple more jenni gems to share.  having so much fun with this kit.  the first one's an a-typical (for me) monochromatic lo . . . and the second . . . those little mini calendar pages were perfect to convey g's desire to go to the pool already . . . come on g . . . it's only february . . .   believe me . . . that pool is FREEZING!!!  :D

flu layouts . . .

so.  these are a couple layouts that i managed to get done during flu week.  i hope it's not obvious that i did them during flu week.  like the flu contaminated my mojo or something.  one's a bit of ki love and the other's jbs goodness.  can't go wrong with a little ki and jbs, right?  anyway.  been enjoying an extra long weekend.  school was cancelled friday because there are still so many flu (and strep) bugs in the system.  and we have monday off for presidents' day.  it's been relaxing.  i think g and i were needing the extra rest.  :D

 

snowbird!

the snowbird finally flew today!  wooHOO!  i woke up at 5:40 and didn't see anything outside, but living in the south i know there doesn't actually have to be anything out there for a snow day to be called so i turned on the news . . . the tension was mounting as the stream of county closings got to the end of the alphabet . . . finally the w's . . . why does tennessee have so many w counties anyway?  warren, white, williamson . . . the suspense was killing me . . . WILSON!  ding ding ding!  we have a winner!  back to bed . . . yes!!!  and can you believe the gman and i slept till 10:00 . . . good stuff . . . and we woke up to this . . . no laughing . . . snow is serious business around these parts . . . notice i had to use the cat as my model . . . g's still in the uncooperative diva mode . . . poopsie wasn't much better actually . . . he kept having an uncontrollable animal magnatism for my polka dot fleece jammies . . . he wanted to wrap himself around my legs . . . not very conducive to snow photography . . . anyway . . . guess i'd better sign off now . . . i think i actually have to work tomorrow . . . boo . . . :D

my sister told me to blog already . . .

so i am.

we've had influenza.  the extended version.  a whole entire week.  woo.  one good thing has come out of it.  i've discovered mucinex.  boy is that good stuff.  g has become a little diva.  yep.  totally working me.  the target toy aisle has become our social outing of the day.  yesterday after our little 3 hour trip to urgent care only to be told it really is still just the flu and you're going to have to deal with it a while longer we went to target yet again.  g's sitting in the buggy yelling, "shunt me over there mommy!"  i guess you really only get that if you have or have had a little train loving boy in your household.  ok.  i'm boring myself, so let's just get to the pictures why don't we.

there's my poor little boo baby.  poor poor thing.  we spent a lot of time on the couch together this week.  and on a side note, i really should get some new pillows.  those palm trees really date me, don't they.

the second is g and his little buddy who also got the flu bug.  this would be when they were on a motrin high. 

and the third.  i like to call this the flu jammie fashion statement.  don't you just love the way the holidays get all mixed up when there's sickness in the house.  i was wearing valentine's day and the fourth of july on this particular day.  thankfully, no one was around to take my picture.
