summer productivity report week three . . .

 

1. vbs week!  the gman had a marvelous time on the boomerang express!  it all comes back to jesus!  also went to the local science museum with shirley and her granddaughters (thanks shirley)!

2. balcony and balcony closet are under control and the car got cleaned out.  the important thing here is that i've so far been able to maintain the areas i've cleaned.  good feeling that.

3. haircut and oil change.  fun times.

4. cranked out 5 more rolls of jbs tickets.  they're hot hot hot!

5. ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.  ???  did i do anything fun this week?  does lots of surfing then net while g was in vbs count?  maybe?

Would love it! I am in the middle of organizing/putting together a scrappin/sewing room. My husband built me a room off our bonus room and it still needs shelves, cupboards and counters but I have lots of 'stuff' that needs organized:) Thanks for the chance!!

aim for the stars and maybe you'll read the sky . . .

 

i like to aim for 8 projects with my jbs mercantile kit each month.  it's a rather lofty goal, but sometimes i actually reach it.  i think i did last month.  not sure about this month yet.  i have 5 done so far.  i'm sure to have 6 since that one is 75% done.  i have another idea in my head that really wants to come out, so 7 is a definite maybe.  and i've printed pics for another one.  go doris go!

 

i mentioned this one already; my summer goal is to get the spring cleaning, purging, and reorganizing done before school starts back in the fall.  this will make the quality of our lives so much better.  really.  i got a little excited those first couple weeks and thought i might actually have it all done before went to florida.  another lofty goal.  i almost made it too.  i just have a few things to do in the living room (wash couch cushions, steam carpet, clean ac closet) and several things to do in the back bedroom aka oversized catchall.  it's not happening since we're leaving tomorrow, but i'm confident i can get it done before my neat freak sister comes for a visit mid-july.  this is my new target.

 

i've been planning on leaving for florida sometimes this weekend.  earlier in the week i toyed with the idea of even going halfway today.  yea.  that didn't happen.  but tomorrow morning looks very promising!  i've done haircut, ticketing, car cleaning,  jiffylube, laundry, fridge emptying, and house tidying.  ok, so the packing isn't done so the 8:30 departure might not happen, but 10:00 is a sure thing!

 

i committed to 3 months without any unneccessary scrappy purchases and now i've gone almost 6!  wowzas!  i can hardly believe it myself.  feels good to have my creative area under control again.  (ali had a post about this very thing this week).  only 4 days till my self-imposed shopping freeze is lifted.  i think i'll let myself get a little something, but honestly i think i've developed a little discipline about it.  we shall see . . .

time keeps on slipping, slipping, slipping . . .

i totally meant to share lots of peeks with you tonight.  and a long wordy post too.  but i laid down on the new plush area rug with g to watch animal armageddon and that's all she wrote.  the combination totally annihilated me.  or maybe 8:30 vbs drop off is wearing me down.  anyway.  i did get the gallery sneak loaded on the jbs mercantile blog.  run over there quick.  it's gorgeous.  so honored to be working with these women.  night all.  zzzzzzzzzzzzzz . . .

the doctor is in . . .

i can definitely see this one in a lab coat when he grows up.  not necessarily as a doctor though.  more along the lines of a researcher.  he's been set on being a scientist since he was three.  he's already asking if he'll get to take science classes next year in kindergarden.  this photo was taken at the adventure science center.  we hit that about midway through our fun busy day.  vbs from 8:30 to 12.  lunch on the go.  then downtown to the center with mrs. shirley and her granddaughters.  the kids decided they wanted an early dinner at sonic.  then we hung out at shirley's for a bit.  then home and straight in the pool.  whew.  no wonder 10pm seems to get here so fast each night!

moving on . . .

i feel like i'm in a holding pattern.  stuck in the procrastination zone.  not good.  i'm not done with summer cleaning, vacation travels are almost upon me, and the part-time jobbies are starting to put the pressure on.  hmmm.  maybe if i finish blogging the studio reorg it'll jog me back into productivity mode.  let's give it a whirl . . .

so.  i guess you've noticed by now that i like a hodgepodge of storage containers.  i keep the area cohesive by sticking to wicker, silver, and glass.  i also totally prefer clear and open storage.  if i can't see it i tend to not use it.

here we have another pier one folding shelf.  top row:  yardsale star basket (contains felt that i should have purged but the gman likes to use it for craft projects), bucket-o-jbs mini papers (i totally get most of my silver stuff from the target dollar spot), vintage jars from my mom with ki felt alphas and buttons (can a girl ever have too many buttons?), mm embellishment jars with american crafts paper flowers.

second row: glitter basket (i think i've gotten most of my baskets here and there when someone has a half off sale), spice rack (excellent for tiny stuff. i got this one at target one christmas.  they're in the back in seasonal gifts), bucket-o-jbs vintage goods, decorated cheese box with old prima jars full of this and that.

third row:  fabric and tulle and punches.

fourth row:  (more target dollar spot bins. spring gardening is a great time to find these) the first one has jbs stuff, the second random wood stamps, the third american crafts stamps.

fifth row:  hangingn file (also target.  don't you just love target), utensil basket holds all my tools and adhesives, old card catalog drawer holds maya road lunchboxes that have miscellaneous stuffs in them.

you've probably also noticed that i like to repurpose.

this was the gman's changing table.  i must keep it forever.  those baskets with the linen linings held his diapers and baby powders and beaudroix's butt paste.  i must keep them forever.

top row:  big stickers in the basket, maya road tins in front, carstock and patterned paper in the vertical files (don't be fooled. there's a lot more that didn't quite make it into this photo), and plastic coupon holders with small rubs and stickers hiding behind.

second row:  chip alphas and american crafts goodies, ac ribbon, paint.

third row:  ink and randomness and american crafts thickers.

whew.  that's it.  maybe now i can think of something interesting to blog about tomorrow.  usually when i push through a slump i find mojo on the other side.

dang it's late.  better hit the sack.  we've actually been having to set the alarm this week for vbs.  8:30 is early for me and g this time of year.

ribbonhappea giveaway . . .

   so here we have a classic example of why i needed to step away from the scrappy ordering button for a bit.  when i first got excited about scrapbooking i got really excited.  i found ribbon particularly exciting.  my username was ribbonhappea, and yes i was. 

the pier one folding shelf houses the ribbon stash, and believe it or not this photo is actually post purge.  the roy g. biv action used to hit every jar.  now i've got a couple empties and the fulls aren't quite so stuffed.  i think all the lidded jars came from target, btw.  the others are vintage generously donated by my mother.

and speaking of donations, who needs to fatten their ribbon stash.  this collection is up for grabs.  leave a comment on this post and i'll pick a random on saturday.

storage unit giveaway . . .

this is how the shelf unit looked before the purge/reorg event.  not too many changes.  the most noticeable is the removal of the silver magnetic board with the 16 magnetized tins.  i don't need it now that i have the new shelf.  planning on putting a pretty picture in that spot now.

happy father's day!

 

my little sweet potato spent the whole day with me and didn't once ask to go play with someone else.  (i think this was to make up for the fact that he kissed neighborgirl on mother's day.  he's only FIVE.  he shouldn't be sharing his lips with other girls yet!).  he escorted me to target again and let me get these cute pillows, throw and rug. 

 

and he let me buy and put together a new lego set for him.  what a guy.  but wait!  it gets better!

 

somehow he noticed my summer heels and became quite concerned.  i call this his scientific investigation face.  he slathered my feet with lotion no less than three times during the course of the afternoon.  bliss.

 

i even talked him into giving my toes their summer look.  today WAS the first day of summer you know.  love my baby.  neighborgirl moved today so he's all mine once more.  at least for now.  need to do a little touch-up on the toes tomorrow while he's at vbs.  hee.

summer productivity report week two . . .

while the kitties relaxed for me, i . . .

1. took the gman bowling with the twins and triplets, took him for playdates at tammy's and sherri's, and took him to target twice (he loves target because he knows his mother is a sucker).

2. the kitchen is done.  all the appliances sparkle inside and out.  quite an accomplishment.  also took care of the laundry room and did a little dusting.

3. the scrap purge is done!  wow wow wow! 

4. another roll of tickets done.  but the bins are empty again.  ack.  i know what i'll be doing tomorrow afternoon.

5. i actually scrapped with the girls last night!  5.5 jbs mercantile july layouts done!  peeks as soon as i get the pics edited.  also need to post a giveaway tomorrow.  totally forgot to take those pics today.  oops!

and should i mention that we slept till 10:30 this morning.  later every day it seems.  gotta reverse the trend next week though.  vbs from 8:30-12:00!
