wrapping up october . . .

so i heard there was a big bad storm coming through last night that would blow all the pretty fall leaves off the trees, so i talked cool renee into going to long hunter state park with me to take fall pics.  unfortunately, i never remember just how brown long hunter state park is.  this was the only tree would could find with pretty colored leaves.  it's almost like the charlie brown christmas tree only the fall version.  hmmm.  the storm wasn't nearly so bad as they made it out to be, so i'm hoping i can take some pics monday on the way home from school.  fingers crossed.

 

ribbon ribbon week day five: paint the town red!  whew!  i made it!  i remembered to take a pic every day for red ribbon week!  the pressure's off.  or it would be, except now monday is dressed up potato day for kindergarten p week.  need to come up with a plan for our spud.  need to buy our spud.  trick or treating first though, so stay tuned!

mojo vs. the abyss . . .

yesterday the mojo miraculously appeared.  whew!  i got two layouts done for jbs mercantile november.  here are the peeks for you.  the real deal will get posted halloween night.  scary!

i think the mojo was still lurking today, but sadly the urge to purge reared its ugly head and i had to tackle g's out of control toy situation.  we now have a bag for his teacher, a bag for the high school art teacher, a bag for his old pre-school teacher, and a bag for goodwill.  whew!  did i say that already?

red ribbon week day 3: follow your dreams aka jammie day plus silly socks for s week in kindergarten.  me and g were really happy with the clothing choice this day, so imagine how ecstatic we were to get november's kindergarten calendar today and discover that next week is p week and he gets to wear jammies again next friday!  (that sentence was a little long, n0?)

red ribbon week day 4: lei off drugs.  that's a surfer dude on his shirt in case you were trying to make the connection.  g's a manly man and would have to be hog tied to get a floral shirt on him.  swim trunks are another story.  he's been wearing the hibiscus flower on his butt since birth; he probably thinks all swim trunks have flowers.  the gman knows that one does not wear swim trunks to school, however, thus the surfer dude polo.  it worked. 

hey!  guess what!  tomorrow's friday!  woot!!!

red ribbon week day 2

 "join the fight against drugs" aka camo day.  i could get into this no dress code thing.  no tucked in shirt.  yea.  that was kinda nice this morning.  tomorrow will be even better.  jammie day.  g and i are slobs at heart.

guess you noticed the other pumpkin got a facelift last night.  looks kinda like g, doesn't he?  i carved the missing tooth on the wrong side though.  hee.

here's a halloween layout share.  i haven't been in the scrappy mood so far this week.  now there's a problem. the mojo had better hit soon is all i'm saying.

 

in the news . . .

 g's school celebrated the kick off of "red ribbon week" today with "hats off to a drug free life."  g says, "we're not drug free 'cause we drink coke!"  oops.

honeysuckle hill farm . . .

we spent four fun filled hours at honeysuckle hill farm today.  if you're a local, you should seriously consider fitting it into your fall schedule.  well worth the trip.

and a pumpkin patch, of course.  ironically, the day was too beautiful for doris to get good pics, so we'll be heading to the "urban patch" (borrowed that phrase from gluestickgirl) tomorrow evening to take a few and pick up a carving pumpkin.  i just love fall festivities.  :D

while it's true that october thus far has been dominated by an excessive amount of work, we have found a little free time for some fun fall activities . . .

 
we made the annual fall break pilgrimage to florida for the gman's birthday celebration with family.  grandma made this fabulous blue marlin cut up cake for the party this year.  papa said it looked like his daddy mighta been a big eyed tuna.  grandma told him to keep his opinions to himself.  ha.

 

we almost brought this little bit home with us.  it was such a soft sweet kitty.  alas, since we are headed to honduras for christmas, we decided it wasn't such a good idea, so little gus got to adopt it.

florida fall is so stunning.  true, it's not the traditional fall colors that we see here in tennessee, but it's still breathtaking.  the roadsides were ablaze with yellow and a touch of purple with the last few orange butterflies flitting about.  i love it.

 

we braved the unseasonally frigid temperatures to do ghouls at grassmere (zoo trick or treating) last saturday night.  g's dressing as a fly fisherman for halloween this year.  we went to the bass pro shop saturday morning to finish outfitting him.  isn't he adorable?  i just want to squish him every time i see this picture.

 
sunday was the nashville party with the adopted cousins, g's bff since he was 10 weeks old, and mommy's bff since she was in second grade.  chuck e. cheese's where a kid can be a kid.  a fun time was had by all.

sunday evening sweet jill had invited us over for the 2nd annual rich and g birthday dinner.  double-booked.  woot!  me and g party hard!  g and jill's dh share a birthday, so it's a fun tradition we've started.  the littles had great fun playing with the new indiana jones legos on the back deck while the hotdogs were grilling.

and here's my angel baby at 10:12 pm on monday, his actual birthdate and time.  i take his picture like this each year to celebrate his birth.  he is such a gift.

next up: the pumpking patch, red ribbon week, trick or treating, and fall colors!  stay tuned!

stick a fork in me . . .

cause i'm DONE!  i finished writing my last class today at 4:30!  i'm so relieved.  i have a to do list a mile long to tackle tomorrow, but looking on the bright side, at least i'll have time to work on it finally.  to celebrate completing the last class i played marble lines a couple times.  and i finally cleared that pesky 9th level!!!  and the 10th and 11th too!  yes!  i'm now top dog at marble lines amongst my facebook crew.  life is good.  happy happy.  okay.  gotta get the little guy to bed.  ketchup post tomorrow.  i promise!  in the meantime, here are a few more sneaks from my class.  still time to register for it don't ya know!

I am missing regular blogging so much.  It's my way to remember and enjoy the little moments.

I am still working working working on my online class though, Product Pizzazz 201: Details.  It takes 90% of my writing braincells which doesn't leave much mental energy for blogging.  It's lots of fun though; if you're a scrapper you should definitely join us!

 We're heading to sunny Florida to visit family in the morning.  Hoping to finish the last of the writing there so we can get back in a normal routine once we get back.
