where did last week go?

 
i've been meaning to post these pics since last sunday after i took them.  guess i've been busy doing other things.  not sure what. 
they were all taken downtown on vanderbilt's campus.   fall has really been lingering here.  it's so nice.  i love fall weather. 

wasn't g so sweet to pose so nicely for me so many times?  i must have threatened him with something, although i really can't remember what now.

here he and his little buddy said they were in jail.  sometimes this is a good place for t hem.

here i asked him to walk the line.  he decided to dance it.

now this is a classic example of why they needed to be locked up.  they threw those leaves all over me.  i was so itchy afterward!

i decided to issue them a pardon though.  they're way too cute for my own good.

contents of a little boy's pocket . . .

g went to kids' club thursday after school because i had to teach an inservice on practical spanish at one of our local elementaries.  as i was getting him ready for bed that night i heard a lot of jinging in his pocket and pulled out all these treasures that he'd picked up on the playground.  i thought "awwwwwww" and "ewwwwwww" all at the same time.  i'd definitely prefer this stuff in his pockets than what he brought home the day before.  a mini-sharpie that he got in the cafeteria.  he said they were giving them away.  who gives a kindergartener a sharpie?  did laundry that night and of course i didn't check his pockets.  i must start checking his pockets.  ruined two of my shirts and several smaller items.  it could have been worse i guess.  at least it was a load of darks and not one of those days that i lazyily threw the khakis and greys into the mix.

 
friday i got an unexpected treat in the mail from american crafts.  i call this "cotents of a happy mommy's box."  it's the new letterpress release.  i LOVE it!  can't wait to use it.  here's a close-up of some of my favorite pieces:

i seem to have several more unshared layouts sitting on my laptop.  these two almost make me wish for bright sunshiny summer days already.  don't get me wrong, i'm loving this gorgeous fall weather we've been having, but the bit about dusk coming round at 4:30 makes me want to go into hibernation mode earlier than i should.

stayed up past midnight getting all my work done last night.  i've been a pumpkin all day today.  i really don't know how you night owls do it.  i won't be doing it again tonight, i can tell you that.  layout and mini-album posted on the jbs inspo blog.  now i'm outtie.  night all.

well, i didn't get my new jbs mercantile layouts edited today . . .

we had several dear friends offer to entertain us last week.  the gman and i are ever so grateful.  tuesday chelle and the "three twins" went to the yellow park with us.  we were hoping to get some fall pics, but alas the lakes around these parts all seem to be ringed by evergreens.  oh well.  the kids had fun which is the important part.

of course a couple of the boys "accidentally" fell in the water.  g is a total water magnet.

 

wednesday we did church which g thoroughly enjoyed as the teacher had a treat box so he got to bring home a new cobra.

thursday the school bff finally got a good school report so could come over and play.

notice g sweetly giving a dino his bottle.  paybacks i suppose.  when i was his age i wouldn't touch a babydoll with a ten foot pole and instead put all the babydoll clothes my mom made on my stuffed animals.  now i have g who's really not at all interested in stuffed animals and instead prefers creatures with scaley skin and sharp teeth.  hee.

friday sherri invited us over for a sleepover.  then saturday we went to a couple of the littles soccer games and the library park. 

sunday we decided to give our friends a day of rest and entertained ourselves.  fishing back at the yellow park. 

today we were back to the social scene.  school bff today.  have a potential playdate for tomorrow.  church wednesday.  kid's club thursday because mama has to teach an inservice.  then the weekend.  we're still open for saturday.  any takers?

nobody wants to play with us . . .

these days playdates are proving to be as elusive as fall foliage photos in our little world.  saturday was spent alone.  alone alone all all alone alone on a wide wide sea and nary a saint took pity on my soul in agony.  poetry courtesy of 7th grade english.  i can also quote the introduction to canterbury tales in old english but that's more a spring thing as opposed to the autumnal bliss that we find ourselves in currently.  rambling.  so good at it.  so yep.  me and the gman hung out together all day saturday until toting that night.  and can you believe this is the only photo i got?  never fear!  i'll be scheduling a re-enactment soon!

sunday was more of the same except we got creative and did a little nesting.  not the pg nesting where you maniacally clean.  nope.  no cleaning going on here.  and no pging for that matter.  anyhoo.  this nesting would be dinosaur nesting.  sweet mama dinos and their babies.  and dino zombies.  and violence.  the gman's impressed by the savagery of nature.

today we did a little fishing.  i was quite proud of him actually.  he's getting really good at "wassing" out his bait.  that's gman lingo for casting.

tomorrow i have determined that we will get some fall photos.  no excuses.  we really would like some company though.  two is the loneliest number . . .
