i know i've been known to use flowers and butterflies and bits of pink on the gman's layouts, but even i couldn't pull this look  off on a boy page.  it's so nice to have pretty baby nieces now.  :)

 
 

 



 

july in photos: waging war

july 25th - i tried to ignore the little buggers, but when they started dive bombing me in my own territory i had to declare war.  i was seriously outnumbered and couldn't even look at the vile nest they'd plastered to my balcony wall.  i finally manned up late last night, going in under the cover of darkness with my hot shot in hand and a clear path to safety mapped out behind me.  they didn't stand a chance as i viciously gassed their striped stinging butts.  i watched them writhe in agony behind the safety of a glass pane as i waited for my heartbeat to slow.  whew.  WHEW.

i was going to take a pic of their nasty little den of iniquity for you, but i just couldn't do it.  instead i blindly knocked it off the wall with the broom and made g bag it in a kroger sack.  i had to explain to him what dry heaves are.  seriously disgusting.  i wish i could get rid of the visual.  bleh.  ick.  instead of pictures of the insect insurgence i leave you with a brightly colored quite cute battle scene from the gman's latest lego acquisition.  i know you are thanking me right now for my photo choice.

july 24th - busy girl. messy desk.  i finished the cha project saturday morning, tidied up, then started my august jbs mercantile projects saturday night.  you can see peeks HERE. 

july 23rd - i am highly annoyed with this photo.  it was the last day of g's fourth round of vbs and i actually remembered (made myself take) the camera.  but.  i forgot the flashcard.  DOH.  i thought i was taking the cutest pics of g and his buddies and nada.  sigh.

 
july 22nd - not too impressed with this pic either.  g's dad came back from a business trip to hawaii and brought him this tee and shark necklace.  nice.  but he refused to pose for a pic with g because he said he was tired and rumpled.  not nice.  irritations.

july 21st - cute family pic of renee and co.  did you know tennis courts make great reflection pics after the rain?  i would have had renee take pics of me and g, but i only had two and a half toenails painted at the time and didn't think thelook needed to be immortalized. 

july 20th - how happy were our kitties to see us when we got back from florida?  VERY.

running out of steam . . .

i wanted to show you the christmas tree and valentine's day card i made yesterday, but i just realized there was no card in my camera when i took pics of them.  there was also no card in my camera when i took pics of g and all his little buddies at vbs tonight.  sigh.  i finished a sweet pink layout with tulle and rhinestones and butterflies this evening.  yay!  i wanted to make a couple more cards tonight too but alas i have no mojo left in me.  i do have this layout all photographed and ready to share.  new family tree papers, jbs ranger paints, tiny alpha stickers, vellum butterflies, and buttons.  i think i'll do a little housework tomorrow.  that usually makes the mojo come back.  weird i know.

i was working on a jbs family tree layout for show yesterday and i got majorly stalled when i tried to get all painty with it.  i finally decided i needed some of the new star stickers that unfortunately aren't in yet.  tomorrow i hear though.  in the meantime, i started on these little cuties.  i love them so much!  it's so nice when what i see in my head works on out paper.  that's not always the case.

i free handed the pumpkins and leaves.  the pumpkins i then finger painted and stitched for texture and the leaves i bent up a bit here and there for dimension.  i know i have said this before, but i am just so charmed by what paint and ink do to the jbs coredinations cardstock.

cha peeks . . .

are any of you out there in the know on CHA peeks?  what are your faves so far?  i just realized today that i am SO out of the loop on the new stuff.  i've seen all the jbs, of course, and i've seen lots of lovlies on the ac blog, but other than that . . . ???  fill me in!  what's fabulous?  i need to start making a list!

july in photos: florida!

july 19th - we're back from visiting the fam in florida!  fun visit, but good to be home.  looooooong trip back today.  barely made it 2 hrs before stopping at this tru.  can you believe that g knows that this tru in the middle of alabama is next to a cracker barrel in the middle of alabama.  i can't remember that kind of stuff; i really don't know how he does.  i know i should have posed g in front of the store for this pic, but i'd already strapped him in when i remembered i needed a pic.  i meant to take a pic of him in the back seat with his loot, but i forget.  maybe i'll recreate the scene tomorrow.

july 18th - my oldest brother took us out in the boat scalloping.  i was very excited since this was the first time g would get in the bay and i was eager to show off his new swimming/snorkeling skills.  unfortunately, there were some nosee'em dinker stinging jellyfish out there.  one got g not five minutes after he got in the water.  he was nearly hyperventilating and screaming that a scallop had bitten his dinker.  it was hilarious, but i kept my laughter to myself.  his aunty the nurse was not so sensitive to his distress.  she had to start teasing him about one of her patients who'd had a VERY significant amputation.  g was SO not impressed and it took me quite a lot of sweet talking to get him back in the water.

july 17th - we are all enjoying the baby neices oh so much.  i shall have to devote an entire post to their adorableness later this week.  this day i was introducing one of them to toads.  isn't this fellow so handsome?  that's me holding him.  i think toads are one of the very cutest of god's creations.  really i do.  toads were some of my favorite playmates as a little girl.  seeing one always puts a smile on my face.

july 16th - we picked figs twice last week.  my sister loves them, so we pick them for her and my mom cans them.  i think i'll need to dedicate a post to all the fruit we saw this trip.  sometimes i forget how lush florida is.

july 15th - that's my oldest nephew pulling in an empty crab trap from the canal.  so depressing.  luckily the next trap he pulled had a few.  can you believe his son is a year older than mine?  that's because i'm the youngest of five.  i'm closer in age to this nephew than to his father, my brother.  interesting tidbit.

july 14th - the other cutie neice was fascinated with g's dsi.  she even sneaked it a couple times and was caught playing it.  do any of you remember when g had those gorgeous curls?  sigh.

july 13th - we managed three trips up to the beach for a little playing in the surf.  pardon my wonky horizon.  i really do know better.

 
july 12th - we got there monday around lunchtime.  g was so thrilled to see his boy cousins.  they all have the best time when they're together, although they really don't look so happy here.  i forgot to take a pic earlier in the day, so made the run outside at dusk to snap a quick one.  the mosquitos were driving us all bonkers.  they are SO bad this year.

july 11th - we got a hotel on the way down.  call me crazy, but i heart hotel stays.   i love cranking the ac down to frigid and snuggling under the covers.  i love slipping the unused toiletries in my suitcase.  i love looking around an empty room with no reminders of all the things i need to get done.  so relaxing.

july 10th - we had a seriously fabulous jbs pool party the night before we left for florida.  g's first chicken fight with my jbs coworkers' kids.  hee.

 
july 9th - the day before the day before we left for florida.  me and the gman almost had one of those VERY rare stay at home all day days.  g was very patient and played so well by himself as i moved my piles from one spot to another.  i was thwarted in the evening when i had the bright idea to online order g a pizza from pizza hut.  i was not so bright in the execution of my bright idea.  i used a saved order and totally forgot to check the address.  the darn pizza went to sherri's house and they weren't even at home.  we ended up having to get the delivery guy to take it back to the store and went there to eat it.  doh.

july in photos: waterlogged

july 5th - we started the week out casually enough.  just the school bff over.  2 hours in the pool. 

july 6th - then the star wars bff came and his big sis tagged along.  2 more hours.

july 7th - kicking it up a notch with the trips.  2.5 hours.  getting a bit waterlogged.

july 8th - today the adopted cousins came over.  7 boys. 3.5 hours.  whew!

little silvie was a trooper for the first two hours, but had wipeout after that.  i want to join her.  we need a slow day!
