i would like to thank each and every one of you for your kind thoughts, sympathies, and suggestions regarding our educational trauma. it's nice to get those feelings of frustration out even though (or especially since) i have no intention of acting on them. i am also thankful for my child's carefree attitude. he's a gem and brings such a unique perspective to my life. we are still persevering in the spelling arena. i strive to maintain a pollyanna attitude. hope springs eternal! we are anxiously awaiting the results of spelling test #2 and slogging away at spelling list #3. wish us luck! i'll keep you posted. :)
Aaack! Why aren't the children trading tests and checking? That practice reinforces the spelling AND provides nearly instantaneous feedback AND saves the teacher grading work.

I feel your pain.... For what it is worth, Dalton really struggled in Kindergarten and 1st grade with his handwriting skills. I would get so frustrated when his paper was marked up because the letters weren't "just right." Sometimes he was close - other times you couldn't tell what in the world he was trying to write. The good news is that despite not wanting to work on any of it this summer, he has suddenly developed the ability to write clear, pretty little letters (most of the time) and numbers. It happened practically overnight. Hang in there!!!

My son has language issues. He's almost 4 (will be 4 this thursday) and he doesn't speak well. He's already having issues at school. It can be overwhelming.
