the gman is extremely proud of his heritage. he tells everyone that he's half honduran and half country. it's the country side that he immerses himself in when we go home to the backwoods of florida. his papa cooks him sausage for breakfast every morning.
his papa also helps him start lots of fires. fires are a popular recreational pursuit out in the country.
this trip the gman discovered that some sticks from the woodpile are suitable for constructing slingshots. i bet next trip he realizes that slingshots are good for popping papa's pet squirrels.
his uncle big gus took him out in the boat a couple times to catch crabs for mommy. they got a fish box 3/4 full. it was a very good haul. blue crab is a delicacy in these parts. not a food that one eats delicately. country folk are okay with this.
also big entertainment is watching cousin little gus cleaning all the fish they caught. more good eats. mmmmmmmmmmmmm.
there was lots of playing with the little boy cousins.
and some hanging out with the big boy cousins who are full of good manners and other stuff.
thank goodness for sweet little girl cousins (and aunties, mommies, and grandmas) who keep the wild things under control.
auntie grandma theresa even taught us the fine art of car cleaning. this is a recreational pursuit in the big city where she lives. it didn't seem all that fun to us, but different strokes for different folks, right?
car cleaning is dang hard work and wears a body out. country folk are good at napping. i reckon they are some of the best in the world at this sport. the gman had to ask what i reckon means. nothing like expanding the vocabulary.
grandma made the most awesomest birthday cake yet. an angler fish this time. g's cake ideas are always the coolest. he and grandma are a dynamic cake-making duo.
and hey. there are even parks out in the country now. i really don't remember having these when i was a kid.
i think i finally shook off the vacation lazies, so check back tomorrow for more on the north florida perspective. :)
